Add Variable

Overview

The process to add a variable to a mix design is available through the Variables Tab of the Mix Design Details Tab. The process is identical to adding a variable to a mix design template.

Prerequisites

  • A mix design must have been added.

  • A test must have been associated with the selected mix design.

Add Variable

To add a variable to a mix design:

  • Search for and select a mix design from the drop-down menu.

  • Navigate to the Variables Tab.

  • Click on the Add Button above the Variables Tab.

    OR

  • Right click anywhere in the Variables table.

  • Select "Add" in the context-sensitive menu.

  • The Add Variable Window will appear.

    • Search for and select a variable from the Name drop-down menu.

    • Check the "Retrieve value from executed sample" box if desired. This will automatically populate the Value field with information from an executed sample test. Select a Test, Test Question, and Sample from the drop-down menus.

    • Check the "Retrieve value from attached test" box if desired. This will automatically populate the Value field with information from a test attached to a mix design through the Mix Design Tests Tab. Select a Test and Test Question from the drop-down menus.

    • Enter a value manually in the Value field, if necessary.

    • Edit other information including checking boxes to indicate if the variable will be required or included in printed reports.

    • Click on the Save Button.

  • Note that a new variable is added to the Variables table.

Notes

  • Administrators can manage the list of available variable names in the Codes Window. The master list of variable names available for use in mix designs is "Aggregate Batch Variable."

  • Users are prevented from saving changes to a system item to which changes have already been made. This prevents concurrency errors.
