Set Access Policies
Overview
The ability to set access policies is available through the Manage Policies Window. Setting access policies is a matter of selecting the desired access rights for a user or role. Learn more about the object types and access levels in the Manage Policies Window.
Prerequisites
An Access Policy has been added.
Set Access Policies
To set an access policy
-
Select the policy to edit from the "Select Policy" drop-down menu.
-
Click on the checkbox for the desired section.
Notes
-
By default, access rights are inherited from a higher-level object. So, when setting the access rights for a Menu Object or a Window Object, the Window and Control Objects that are below that object in the hierarchy would be given the same access rights.
-
When setting access policies, the policy for a lower-level object overrides any policies for higher-level objects. If write access is set for a Window object and read access is set for an Control object in that screen, the Control object will be read-only for the user or role.
-
If a user is assigned to more than one role in the Roles tab of the Employees Window, the user will receive the more expansive access right for each of the application's objects. So, where the access rights for the different roles are different the user will get write access over read access, and read access over no access.
-
Write access for any access right includes Read access.
