Intelligent Search

Overview

The iPDWeb application uses Intelligent Search in the "Select" fields in all windows. Intelligent Search allows a user to find what they are looking for with only limited information. Intelligent search is one of many basic functions available throughout the iPDWeb application.

Examples:

  • Finding a Contract in the Contract Window

    • A user may enter a word, phrase, or part of a word in the following fields to find the contract:

      • Contract Number

      • Contract Name

      • Contract Description

      • Project Name & Number

      • PIN

  • Finding an Employee in the Employees Window

    • A user may enter a word, phrase, or part of a word in the following fields to find the contract:

      • First Name

      • Last Name

      • Address 1

      • Address 2

      • City

      • State

      • Zip Code

Notes

  • The concept of the Intelligent Search is to allow users with any level of detailed knowledge about the thing they are searching for (contract, employee, company, etc.) to be able to enter the information they know and select from a limited list the thing they were searching for.

  • Some intelligent search bars (like the search bar in the Material Definition Window) include an "Active Only" checkbox, which can be checked or un-checked to include only active results, or to also include inactive results.

  • Not all instances of this feature are shown here.
